We made a reservation in advance : Mcmunns then promptly send an email with the menu so we could peruse it in advance.... read more The kids really enjoyed the childrens menu with its creative & humorous meal titles. The adults had mussels and steak which was divine. Followed by coffee and cheese cake which was just heavenly. We felt very safe considering Covid 19 restrictions; all staff wore face shields. The tables were well spread out and there was a lightning system if you needed the bathrooms. We are really looking forward to going back.

We were met at the door by a young waitress who was friendly and polite, as we didn't have a booking she went to check with the manager to see if we could be seated. Once we met the manager the whole experience went downhill, to echo other reviews on this platform she is very ignorant, it baffles me how she has a job in customer service. We were scoffed at before being offered a table as they were "very busy" when we arrived there was 3 tables seated, with only 2 more arriving before we departed. The young waitress who greeted us at the door took our order. I ordered the fish and chips and my partner had the chicken. While waiting for our food a group of golfers came in and were seated near us. The manager who greeted us with disdain swooned over this group, it was at this point we felt as we were younger (mid twenties) the manager didn't want us in the restaurant. When our food arrived, my fish and chips was fine, edible but in no way worth the price on the menu. My partners chicken was cold, as if it had been sitting around. When raising this point with a member of staff, there was a dismissive attitude of my partners concerns, but it was taken back, only to come back out cold again. The manager came over after the food came out a second time, but became irate when we mentioned the same issue had occurred again. The manager was too busy "entertaining" the golfing group that had walked in, clearly she thought they would spend more money or we were not worthy of her attention, either way it left us unsatisfied with the whole experience . I finished my food, however my partner left her's uneaten, no apology from the manager, no offer to prepare something else and then we found on the bill we were charged full price for something which was not up to standard. All in all a terrible experience. A restaurant that couldn't be recommended to anyone.

This time it was not. There were 6 of us and a baby. We booked for... read more 6 o’clock. We were put on a small table which was quite cramped. We waited ages to be served with drinks. We chose our food. 3 lamb 3 fish. We were eventually served at 7:30! The baby was restless. The lamb was so pink (which we were told about which probably meant people had complained before) it was almost raw. Just cook it well. People will like it better. The fish was ok but the sauce was very vinegary and not pleasant. When the lamb came to the table it was accompanied by 3 dishes of vegetables. I asked if veg came with the fish and was told we had to share. The veg was pretty much unrecognisable. My pudding was panacotta. I usually like this but it was covered in a lumpy brown powder and when I scraped this off it was not very good. What a total disappointment. This was a special meal which cost 300 euros. We won’t be returning and will advise others not to go.

  After many years of visiting this restaurant we were disappointed after our recent visit. We had to have at least 2 courses which was costing €40. We asked for a stir fry but this was not possible, so the offer of soup and a main size pasta starter was costing €40. We did not stay and definitely will not be back .

We both went for the chowder, it was average, then I went for the mussels which were lovely and himself had the steak and he said it was nice, nothing special, however the chips and the pepper sauce were fab. we were so fortunate to get a window table so we could watch the sunset which was fab, the service was great all evening and I nearly forgot about the best bit the rhubarb and apple crumble, delicious.

  Lovely cosy place, nice ambience, good service and great food. What more could you ask for except maybe a really good bottle of wine to complement an excellent steak.
